Baby Loss Awareness Week and World Mental Health Day: Supporting Families Through Every Neonatal Journey

9-15 October marks Baby Loss Awareness Week, a time to remember babies who are no longer with us, raise awareness of the impact of baby loss, and send love and support to all the families carrying the memory of a baby in their hearts.
It is a tragic reality that not all babies make it home from the neonatal unit. For many families, the experience of neonatal care can bring feelings of anxiety, uncertainty, trauma and isolation. For those who have experienced baby loss, these emotions can be even more overwhelming and long-lasting.
This week also includes World Mental Health Day, providing an important reminder of the lasting impact that neonatal experiences can have on emotional wellbeing. Whether you are currently on the neonatal unit, adjusting to life at home, or navigating life after loss, it is important to remember that support is available and that asking for help is a sign of strength.
At Tiny Lives, we are here to ensure that no family faces these challenges alone. We know that every family’s journey is different, and we offer a range of services designed to provide emotional support whenever it is needed.
Counselling and Peer Support
Our specialist counselling service for neonatal parents provides a safe and supportive space to talk through experiences, emotions and grief with a trained counsellor who understands the impact a neonatal journey can have. The service is self-referred, meaning parents do not need a medical referral to access support.
We also offer dedicated Mams’ and Dads’ group chats, giving parents the opportunity to connect with others who truly understand the challenges of neonatal care, life after discharge, and baby loss. Sometimes, simply knowing you are not alone can make all the difference.
