What they are – Packs of 9 communication cards with drawn pictures of simple day to day activities that take place on the neonatal unit. Developed and piloted by the neonatal unit at the RVI translated into the six frequently used languages and one pack without any writing on. For some simple day to day activities, it is not always feasible to arrange for translators. These cards will help facilitate communication with families from non-English speaking backgrounds on a day-to-day basis. They will hopefully empower families to initiate conversations and allow them to be included in their baby’s care. The blank cards can be used with families who speak other languages or anyone with literacy/communication needs.
Languages on the cards are – Arabic, Farsi, Bengali, Kurdish, Turkish and Romanian
How they’re funded – These cards are funded through a grant from Tiny Lives
How people can access them – To access your copy of the cards, please enter your name and email address, which languages you would like and your reason for accessing them. You will then be sent a link to your download.
Any other information about the project – These packs are still being piloted so any feedback would be gratefully received. This will help us understand the reach and impact of the project. Please send feedback to info@tinylives.org.uk.
