Sophie’s Story

Sophie (2)

Firstly I want to thank you for all your support. Without you I couldn’t imagine how it would be for my baby girl, Sophie.

My baby girl was born 27 weeks prematurely. Her birth weight was 1005 grams and she was born by emergency Caesarean section. I was so scared, I didn’t know that babies could born so early. I was shocked.

She was ventilated for 3 hours and remained on continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) until Day 2. Then she required low flow oxygen. On day 38 from birth she could breathe on her own, so she didn’t need the oxygen anymore. She spend exactly 10 weeks in SCBU.

It was awful time to leave my tiny baby in hospital, it was awful to know you’re going home but your baby is in hospital and fighting for her life. But on the other side we knew that the Special Care team is so good that our baby is in good hands. I told the nurses that “at the moment you all are the first mummies for my baby, because you all do so much more than I could do”.

I was so happy that Tiny Lives provided us with the Miniboos. It was such a help for us to feel and smell our baby when we were at home.

My baby Sophie is now nearly 5 months corrected nearly 2 months old. She is doing really well and her weight is now 4,200kg. I can’t thank everyone enough.
