A tribute to Gemma Collins, Ward 35 Mam

October 8th 2020

We recently learned about the sad loss of one of our Ward 35 parents. Gemma Collins was mam to baby Phoebe, who was born 3 months prematurely and spent 4 months on the RVI Neonatal Unit.

Gemma was sadly diagnosed with cancer just weeks before Phoebe’s birth, meaning that Phoebe had to be born early so that Gemma could undergo severe chemotherapy. Tragically, Gemma lost her fight with cancer on the 28th August 2020.

Her family and friends have rallied around to raise an incredible £8130.00 for Tiny Lives in her memory, via a Facebook Fundraiser. Gemma always planned to do more fundraising for Tiny Lives, and this tribute to her is an amazing way to honour her memory. An additional £1000 has also been kindly donated to Tiny Lives by Gemma’s employer, Fenwick.

We are eternally grateful to everyone who chose to donate in memory of Gemma. This will make a huge difference to vulnerable babies and their families on the Neonatal Unit.

Special thanks to Gemma’s Mam Margaret for co-ordinating this fundraising, and to Gemma’s husband Anthony for kindly sharing these beautiful photos with us.

Gemma’s Mam Margaret is taking part in Newcastle’s Colour Run in June 2022! Margaret and her friends and colleagues are taking part in this fun day to raise funds for Tiny Lives in loving memory of Gemma and in respect of the care Phoebe received on the unit.

Special thanks to Gemma’s Mam Margaret and to Gemma’s husband Anthony for sharing these wonderful photos with us. We think you will agree, it’s lovely to see how much Phoebe has grown.
