Research Opportunity: Lung Function Study

Research Volunteers Wanted (Lung Study Feb 2020) TW

Tiny Lives have recently supported research that includes a study into lung function and respiratory health in children born prematurely, which is being carried out by medical professionals at the RVI in Newcastle. In order to progress this study, the research team need your help!

The team are looking for volunteers aged 11-15 years old, who were born at less than 32 weeks gestation to take part in this research. It doesn’t matter whether or not they needed breathing support or were on oxygen as a baby.

The study involves two visits for the volunteers, which will take around an hour each:

  • The first visit is to the RVI where they will do some basic breathing tests to look at how the lungs are working.
  • The second is to Sport Central at Northumbria University where they will monitor breathing during a short period (up to 10 minutes) of cycling.

If your child is interested in taking part, please get in touch with rebecca.naples@nhs.net for more information.

Thank you!
