Ward 35 Family Room gets a Tiny Lives refurb

It’s a vital respite space for parents and their visitors on the RVI Neonatal Unit, but the Family Room was in dire need of freshening up!

Working with Senior Sister Karen, Tiny Lives supported a fresh, modern refurbishment for the room, funding new furniture and decorative items, including: new sofas and chairs, a new table, storage unit, bookshelves, lamp and crocodile play area for younger visitors. New flooring and a fresh coat of paint were supplied by the RVI’s Estates team.

Karen, who chose, shopped for and arranged the room said: “Thank you to Tiny Lives for supporting me to complete this wonderful refurbishment and also to all of the Tiny Lives fundraisers who make developments like this possible!”

Both current and former residents of the RVI were equally positive about the room’s transformation, commenting:

  • “Ah that’s a lovely room for parents and families to have a little relaxing time. Tiny lives is amazing!” – Cheryl
  • “Wow what a difference!! Love the alligator play wall” – Dianne
  • “It’s such a beautiful calming space! My baby boy has just come home on Friday after spending some time in SCBU and this room allowed me to spend some alone time with my 2 year old boy, who I missed so much whilst in the hospital. We absolutely loved it.” – Jade

The team Tiny Lives were so proud to be able to fund this refurbishment, and hope that it will be enjoyed for many years to come! It’s thanks to the work of amazing Tiny Lives fundraisers that projects like this can happen.
