Baby Oliver inspires fantastic family fundraising

Baby Oliver Wright was born 17 weeks prematurely on the 23rd of November, weighing only 550g. With his parents, Abbey and Daniel, he fought for survival for 4 months before being discharged from the RVI Neonatal Unit.

Inspired by his time on the Unit, Abbey, Daniel and their families kindly decided to raise money for Tiny Lives, as thanks for the help and support they received at the RVI.

Oliver’s grandma Julie and lots of friends and family came together to complete a Colour Run event on 15th June, which raised an amazing £2897.03! Local businesses in the Chester-le-Street area also showed their support, by hosting collection tubs in their shops to help boost the group’s fundraising total.

Oliver’s family also held a fun-filled fundraising night on 29th June, organised by Oliver’s grandmas, Helen and Julie, which was a huge success. Guests enjoyed a raffle, singers, face-painting and even a drag act!

Speaking of her experience on the Neonatal unit, Abbey said: ‘It was really hard. But the hospital staff were absolutely amazing, Tiny Lives supported us so much. My son probably wouldn’t be here without all their help and support.’

We can’t thank Abbey, Daniel and their family and friends enough for all of their wonderful fundraising – we’re sure Oliver will be very proud when he’s older to hear how much he inspired the whole family!
