Meet the Team

Kelly Blakeney

Head of Tiny Lives

Since July 2017

I'm responsible for the day-to-day management of Tiny Lives and provide strategic leadership to the Tiny Lives team. I support our Board of Trustees and am responsible for ensuring we have a deliverable strategic plan that focuses on the needs of the babies and families that we support and also maximises the valuable funds our supporters raise.

What's your favourite part about working for Tiny Lives?

I love the meeting the families that we have supported, hearing about the difference that Tiny Lives has made to them and their ideas on what else we can do to help families in the future. I also love working with a great team who are passionate about the work that we do.

Anything else?

Outside of Tiny Lives, I am a great hobby starter, but I’m notoriously bad at keeping them up. The list includes sewing, jewellery-making, knitting, crocheting, playing the piano, art, card making…you name it! So instead, I simply enjoy spending time with my family and relaxing with a great box set or a fabulous book!

Louise Carroll

Community and Events Fundraiser

Since 2008

In my role at Tiny Lives, I'm out and about meeting supporters, attending fundraising events and doing presentations at schools and companies who would like to support the charity. I also arrange visits to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for supporters, so they can see with their own eyes how amazing the unit is. I'm also the main contact for the Great North Run, Christmas Reunion and our annual Charity Ball.

What's your favourite part about working for Tiny Lives?

I always say to supporters this sounds corny, but I really do love my job. Meeting supporters, families and speaking to staff on the unit gives me the drive to be the best I can at work. It's amazing seeing the hard work and dedication that the staff on the unit have and speaking to supporters who have organised a fundraising event - they are the makers of Tiny Lives and enable us to continue supporting the families currently on NICU.

Anything else?

When I’m not attending a fundraising event (or checking my work e-mails!) my life revolves around my dogs who are my four-legged babies. I like to spend as much time as I can with them. I also enjoy keeping fit by running, attending the gym and also going out cycling. When I’m not dragging the dogs out for a walk, I like nothing better than watching a good film - my downfall is chocolate (or anything with sugar, hence why I have to keep fit!).

Hannah Gould

Finance Officer

Since June 2015

My role at Tiny Lives involves overseeing the day-to-day finances of the charity. I am also responsible for monitoring and managing all the grants that we award, which directly benefit the Special Care Baby Unit at the RVI. The role is extremely varied, one day I might be doing management accounts or claiming Gift Aid, the next I might be reading reports on medical research that’s taking place! As you can imagine I love an Excel spreadsheet!

What's your favourite part about working for Tiny Lives?

I love working for Tiny Lives and being able to see the direct benefit the charity and the unit’s work has to babies, parents and all the families that we support. We are a small team and even though I deal with the finance and grants side of the charity, I really like that I still get to meet a lot of our supporters and hear all about the amazing fundraising they are doing!

Anything else?

I have a 4yr old and a 1yr old who keep me very busy most of the time. My passions include Bruce Springsteen, Crystal Palace Football Club and food! One of my favourite things about living in the North East is all the amazing beaches on our doorstep, on a weekend I love nothing more than going to the coast with family and friends.

Amy Patterson

Fundraising and Administration Assistant

Since March 2018

I’m the first port of call for Tiny Lives, so if you’ve dropped us an email or rang the office, I’m probably the one you spoke to. I help our amazing fundraisers organise their events by offering advice and general admin support and help keep our database spick and span. I’m also responsible for the Tiny Lives social media channels and updating the Tiny Lives website - especially the News and Events sections - and for writing the occasional press release.

What's your favourite part about working for Tiny Lives?

I love hearing about the incredible challenges that our supporters have undertaken on behalf of Tiny Lives. The commitment, dedication and passion from the Tiny Lives family really is amazing! It's so lovely to see updated pictures of the babies that have been on the NICU too.

Anything else?

In my spare time I enjoy practicing yoga, running, going to gigs and I'm also a big fan of exploring new restaurants and bars (especially gin bars!). If I'm not out and about you can find me at home, catching up on the latest binge-worthy Netflix drama. Tiny Lives is a cause that is close to my heart, as I was actually born prematurely (at 26 weeks).

Jacqui Adams

Projects Development Officer

Since August 2018

My role is to develop, deliver and evaluate the services that Tiny Lives support for families when they are on the Neonatal Unit and after discharge. A large part of this is maintaining and developing our existing partnerships, engaging with key stakeholders to ensure projects meet identified needs and seeking out new opportunities, which is great as I love meeting and talking to new people!

What's your favourite part about working for Tiny Lives?

As I have only just started at Tiny Lives it is hard to say what my favourite part is; so far I’d say all of it! I am really enjoying finding out more about the projects Tiny Lives currently supports, meeting families and the staff on the Neonatal Unit. I love developing things with people, especially when I can see a direct impact for families, so I am confident that this will be the favourite part of my work.

Anything else?

Outside of work I love my holidays, travelling to different places either home of abroad (but I do really enjoy a burst of winter sunshine). I also like spending time with my family and love nothing more than curling up on the settee with a good box set or film along with the obligatory box of popcorn! If I’m not at home or on holiday you might also find me at a music festival or gig.
